Background Check

Risk prevention begins by not inviting it in. Universities are only as safe as the people within them; hire the wrong person and you invite trouble. Risk Aware's enhanced background check services are designed with the special requirements of higher education in mind including background check policy development all the way through to the furnishing of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive background checks.

As the custodians of our young adults, universities today are faced with mounting challenges to maintain their safety. To assist them in meeting this challenge, Risk Aware has developed our background check services with the priority of providing state-of-the-art data searches matched with industry leading investigative and customer support. Unlike most providers who perform an automated data search and simply forward on the results for the university staff to sort out, Risk Aware has a team of licensed private investigators who research any records which are returned. The result of this effort is an accurate report in a timely manner, usually within a 48-72 hour timeframe, which can be immediately evaluated by your HR staff without the need to do extensive follow-up research.  Hiring decisions, which used to be delayed for days or sometimes weeks, can now be made as soon as the report arrives.

Red Flag

The fact is many people never report incidents because they don't know how to or simply don't want to be involved. In many cases, students, faculty, or staff may observe unusual behavior but don't know what to do or are uncertain about what the behavior may signal. We refer to these behaviors as red flags.

To solve this problem, Risk Aware offers universities our Red Flag incident reporting system. Red Flag, gives universities an easy-to-use, web-based solution that makes reporting of unusual behavior painless. Red Flag is a flexible, yet robust system which can be configured to conform to the university's existing policies and procedures.  Depending upon your university's requirements, Red Flag can be configured to be completely open and anonymous, open only to your threat assessment team, or many combinations in between. 

Red Flag works by providing an online form for the collection of specific information relating to incidents or behaviors that may appear unusual, suspicious, threatening or potentially harmful. This information is then aggregated in a centralized database where it is formatted and displayed for evaluation by the university's team of authorized users.  This team can review the submitted reports, determine appropriate follow-up actions and then document their actions in the system. Red Flag even allows for anonymous communication between the university's team and the reporter.
